Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy by Eric Metaxas (2011) – fantastic!  I also got to meet the author at the 2013 NACC in Louisville.  Pretty cool.

God Loves Single Moms: Practical Help for Finding Confidence, Strength and Hope by Teresa Whitehurst (2010) – don’t start a single mom’s ministry without reading this first!

Taking People with You by David Novak (2012) – this book is fantastic!  A must read for any leader of any type organization.

Tribes by Seth Godin (2008)

The Leadership Pipeline by Ram Charan, Steve Drotter and Jim Noel (2012)

The Ten Faces of Innovation by Tom Kelley (2005)

Means of Ascent (The Years of Lyndon Johnson) by Robert A. Caro (1991)

Animal  Farm by George Orwell (1946) – My daughter was reading this for school so I picked it up and read it again.  Hadn’t since high school.  Still a great book.

Lincoln’s Battle with God by Stephen Masnfield (2012) – You can never read too many things by, or about, President Lincoln.

Inside Out by Dr. Larry Crabb (1988) – I’ve read this a couple of times previously, but it’s a good book to read every couple of years or so.

Lord, Change My Attitude Before It’s Too Late by James MacDonald (2008) – This was loaned to me by my mother-in-law.  She promised it wasn’t a message to me personally 🙂

Interviewing Your Daughter’s Date: 8 Steps to No Regrets by Dennis Rainey and Lawrence Kimbrough (2007)

Henry Clay: The Essential American by David S. Heidler and Jeanne T. Heidler (2011) – A great biography of a great American politician.  Lots of stuff I never knew.

The Decision Maker by Dennis Bakke (2013)

What Matters Now by Gary Hamel (2012)

Center Church by Timothy Keller (2012)

Creature of the Word: The Jesus Centered Church by Matt Chandler, Josh Patterson and Eric Geiger (2012)

Insanely Simple: The Obsession that Drives Apple’s Success by Ken Segall (2012) – A look at some of the core values that has made Apple a huge success at innovation.

Visioneering by Andy Stanley (2005).

Dating and the Single Parent by Ron Deal (2012) – The latest book by Ron Deal who is the real deal when it comes to biblical advice for blended families.  Always practical.  Always right on point.  Read this if you are thinking about getting into a relationship and will have blended family factors to consider (or, if you know someone who does).

Stephen Hawking by Kitty Ferguson (2012) – A good biography.  Lots of technical jargon and explanation.

Sub-Merge: Living Deep in a Shallow World, by John B. Hayes (2006) – John is a friend of mine and his story, ideas on missional living, and love for the poor make this book a must-read.  John is coming to preach at Adventure in May so I re-read this and it was even better the second time through.

Great by Choice, by Jim Collins (2011) – Wonderful book on focusing on your organization’s vision by the  author of Good to Great.

Praying Circles Around Your Children, by Mark Batterson (2012) – Every parent should read this book and implement the teaching in some way and on some level.

The God Pocket, by Bruce Wilkinson (2011)

Thomas Jefferson:  The Art of Power, by Jon Meacham (2012)

Deep & Wide, by Andy Stanley (2012)  – Another great book by Andy Stanley.  Interesting story on how his church got started.  God was bigger than the people!

Dangerous Calling, by Paul David Tripp (2012)

Torn, by Jud Wilhite (2011) – Anything written by Jud is from the heart and the Bible.  He’s a great guy and pastor.  I roomed with his older brother, Jim, when I attended seminary classes in California.
